Psychic Engagement
Receiving a reading from a psychic medium should NOT be a passive activity. The more actively you are engaged in the process and open to receiving information from the medium, the more likely you are to receive useful and comforting information.
Psychic Medium Style
Each psychic medium has her/his own unique style, so it is important that you follow any guidance that is provided to you to have the best session possible. Your engagement (or lack of engagement) can directly affect the outcome of your reading.
Talk, but not TOO much…
It is important that you answer questions that a medium asks of you, but try to refrain from sharing too much information with the medium. If you allow the Spirit and medium to communicate without interruption, your dead loved one might share with the medium specific details about his death, your relationship to him, or other evidence that proves he is present for your session. The primary purpose of mediumship is to demonstrate the continuation of life. Although no longer housed in a body, your loved one is still with you.
Medium = Spirit Translator
It is important for a sitter (client) to understand that a conversation between a medium and a deceased loved one is not as precise as the conversation the sitter has with the medium. (I’ve written about this before in this blog.) The spirit may use my own memories, feelings in my body, visions in my mind, smells, or thoughts to communicate with me. (You can read about the specific mechanics of mediumship in this blog.)
As a medium, I translate information I receive from Spirit to you, the sitter. As a sitter, your engagement (open, active listening) and feedback (affirming the information makes sense to you, telling me the information doesn’t make sense to you, or requesting more information) regarding my translation helps to ensure that you understand the information I translate for you.
For example: Spirit uses my memories regarding how I feel about Independence Day. I will translate and interpret all of the information Spirit has shared with me, using my memories, visual images, and smells. I will then ask the sitter, “Does that make sense to you?” regarding my interpretation of Spirit’s message. If you say, “Yes”, then we can move on to the next message. If you say, “No”, then I can ask Spirit for more information to help you understand what your loved one is trying to convey to you through me.
Psychic Medium Reading Preparation
Preparing for your psychic medium reading by following the guidance I provide, thinking (in general terms) about what you want to accomplish during your reading (e.g., I want to communicate with my dead Grandmother), and writing down the questions you want to ask during your session will help you to get the most out of your session with a psychic medium. (This blog provides psychic medium reading preparation guidance.)
