What should you expect from a psychic medium? In this continuing Eclectic Horizons blog series, we have outlined some potential client questions. Click here for more related posts.

Q: What is my role as a sitter to ensure a good psychic medium reading?

A: Preparation and openness.

Some psychics and mediums don’t request that their clients (sitters) prepare in any way except to show up or call at the appointed time. We feel that in order for you to get the most out of your spirit communication session, you need to prepare before your reading. In a previously published post we provided guidance regarding the types of questions you might want to ask of a psychic or a medium and other steps you should take to prepare for your psychic medium session.

As I’ve written in another previous post, some psychics and mediums will use what I call the “monologue” approach to translate the information that is most readily available.  Although this can be interesting, my perspective is that sometimes this can completely miss the mark of your goal(s) for the session. When I connect with your energetic aura and invite in your spiritual team, I may establish a really clear connection with your grandmother. Without input from you, I could spend a good portion of your session providing you with evidential information to demonstrate her presence and then spend time communicating with your grandmother’s spirit. However, if you have a list of questions about your career that you are hoping to discuss, you would be disappointed, even if I provided you with accurate information. For this reason, we encourage you as a sitter to think about your goal(s) for your session and adequately prepare questions to facilitate those goals.

Communicating with Spirit

If you just ask me to, “just tell me what you get”, your reading will be much more generic than if you provide a clear direction for your reading.

Think about it this way:

  • When you call a friend, do you just say, “Start talking!” or do you ask her a specific question (giving direction) for the conversation?
  • Spirit communication  can encompass a vast array of topics. Although if you don’t give Spirit a direction, you may not receive anything in return, because Spirit may put forth the same amount of effort you did—none.
  • However, if you ask Spirit, “How do you feel about___________?” or, “Were you influenced to change your will to exclude me?” You’re more likely to get a response that is useful.

Develop Questions

“The quality of the question will reflect the quality of the answer.” -Maitland

The psychic medium reading you schedule with us is about you. The less preparation you do beforehand, the less detail you will receive. If you come with a list of questions, are clear about your goals(s) for your session, and adequately prepare, we can achieve your planned outcome together.

A reading is a joint-effort. As the psychic medium, I will obviously do most of the ‘heavy lifting’. But if you want to receive the best results, you have to be a willing participant engaged in the process.
